Arsenal really have their eye on Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia, but they're not the only ones. Other Premier League teams are also showing interest, and the specifics of his release clause? Well, they're still up in the air.

Things are about to heat up in the chase for Garcia in the next few weeks, especially once Espanyol figures out which league they'll be in next season. If they end up getting relegated, his release clause is set to drop significantly.

Oh, and don’t forget about the upcoming announcement from Luis de la Fuente regarding the Spain national team squad for their Nations League semi-final against France in June. If Garcia gets called up, his release clause—which starts at £21m (€25m)—could jump to £25.3m (€30m). This change also happens in the last two weeks of every transfer window.

Sources say that clubs interested in him have been briefed about all the different factors influencing his buy-out clause. So, out of respect for both Garcia and Espanyol, they’re holding off on any formal talks until the La Liga season wraps up.

We’ll get a clearer picture this Sunday. If Espanyol can snag just one point against Osasuna, they’ll secure their safety. Meanwhile, Leganes is already facing relegation if they don’t win against Las Palmas, who’ve already been sent down.

Arsenal still admires the 24-year-old, but their new sporting director, Andrea Berta, seems a bit hesitant about shelling out big bucks for a keeper who might just be second fiddle to David Raya.

As for Garcia, he’s got the confidence of someone who believes he can outshine any keeper in the world. He’s got big dreams of making a name for himself in this sport.

Right now, the buzz that Newcastle is on the verge of sealing a deal seems off-base. Aston Villa’s interest hinges on what happens with Emiliano Martinez, who’s attracting attention from clubs in the Saudi Pro League this summer.

Those close to Garcia suggest that his future isn’t going to be decided right away, but things could shift rapidly once the season wraps up and the release clause details become clearer.

Espanyol’s sporting director, Fran Garagarza, recently said, “There’s a lot of chatter about him, but we don’t have any solid offers yet. He’s been vital for us—not just for his skills, but for his mindset. He’s performing at the top level and is fully focused on helping us secure the points we need for safety. He’s a key player for us, alongside our other homegrown talents. We’re proud of them.”

Bayer Leverkusen is also in the mix for Garcia. If he does get sold, Mallorca’s goalkeeper Leo Roman has been pointed out as a possible replacement.
