In a recent media engagement, Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), strongly criticized Reverend Ntim Fordjour, Member of Parliament and Deputy Education Minister, for what he described as careless and unsupported accusations surrounding a sensitive government matter.
Gyamfi took issue with Fordjour’s public remarks, stating that such claims, lacking concrete evidence, only serve to distract the public and undermine responsible governance.
“You cannot simply get up and make unverified statements and expect authorities to launch full investigations,” Gyamfi stated. “This isn't about suspicion anymore. The individuals involved claimed to have credible intelligence—if that’s true, where is it? Why not present the facts instead of making vague assertions?”
He accused Rev. Fordjour of engaging in political theater and attempting to justify questionable actions without offering any substantiation. Gyamfi argued that public officials, especially lawmakers, must approach national matters with responsibility and a commitment to truth.
He also took exception to Fordjour’s criticism of presidential spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu, who had provided a detailed timeline and documentation related to the matter. “What exactly has Felix said that has proven false?” Gyamfi questioned. “He shared verified information—aircraft details, landing permits, cargo logs—everything is accounted for. So what more is needed before the truth is accepted?”
Gyamfi then recalled his own experience, stating that when he was accused of spreading falsehoods in the past, he cooperated with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and presented evidence to clear his name. He suggested that Reverend Fordjour lacked the same sense of accountability.
“You, Reverend, are showing no sense of responsibility. You’ve become a liability to your party and your constituents,” he said. “If you refuse to cooperate with the relevant authorities and attempt to hide behind parliamentary immunity, understand that it won’t shield you forever. The system will take its course, and accountability will catch up with you.”
Gyamfi concluded his remarks with a sharp warning, saying, “This country deserves better. We cannot allow individuals to manipulate the truth and escape responsibility. Enough is enough.”
The exchange has intensified ongoing public debates about transparency, political ethics, and the conduct expected of those in leadership. Gyamfi’s remarks have sparked further calls for Reverend Fordjour to either substantiate his claims or withdraw them and face the consequences.
