The youth system is working in some parts of Africa and south Africa have been able to win the under 20 Afcon in Egypt after beating Morocco in the final by 1 goal to nothing. The team that has been underdog in the juvenile football for long have now invested some time and money, which is paying for them. They have now taken over from defending champions, Senegal who failed to make anything meaningful from this tournament. They would now go to the world cup with team like Nigeria, Morocco and Egypt. Unfortunately Ghana has once again failed to make the cut after they fell off in penalties to Egypt in the quarter finals of the competition. They would have to play from wafu to see if they can make the qualification for the Afcon before dreaming of a world cup.
The Lions returned to winning ways after an emphatic victory against Aduana Stars despite a nervy finish to the match at the Accra Sports Stadium.
We scored five times in the first hour of the game but Aduana fought to pull three goals in the last ten minutes to set up a frenzy finish. Our boys started the game on a good note, breaking the deadlock through defender Musa Hamzata, who headed home from a Fuzy Taylor free kick. Lucky Nwafor doubled the lead for us in the 30th minute following a swift move from the left, twisting and turning his marker before slotting home from inside the box. Four minutes later, Salman Tahiru, who had assisted Nwafor for the second then pounced on a mistake from Aduana to extend the advantage. The league is now taking tempo and the one who keeps the momentum gets more from it
