Rio Ferdinand lists eight Manchester United stars with a future under Ruben Amorim. Ruben Amorim's summer transfer plans will be decided by the Europa League final results against Spurs, but Rio Ferdinand feels there are a handful of players who can comprehend the head coach's tactical strategy.
Rio Ferdinand has listed eight Manchester United players who have shown signs of fitting into Ruben Amorim's tactical style, despite the former defender believing the manager would like to sell ten players and bring in a similar number this summer. United enter Wednesday night's Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur in a slightly more relaxed atmosphere than their opponents, but success or failure in Bilbao will determine the extent of Amorim's squad revamp this summer. Qualifying for the Champions League will greatly improve the club's budget and attract more high-profile players than if they do not participate in European competition at all next season.
However, Ferdinand believes that a few players, including club captain Bruno Fernandes, have demonstrated their ability to excel in Amorim's 3-4-3 structure. "I think he's got a lot of players," Ferdinand explained. "Bruno, (Alejandro) Garnacho, Amad, (Noussair) Mazraoui has done a decent job when he's come in, Leny Yoro, Harry Maguire, (Matthijs) De Ligt, Casemiro, again, has adapted."
Ferdinand believes it would be absurd for United to dismiss their head coach again if Amorim fails to win tonight's final against Spurs because he has yet to have a transfer window to develop his team. The former Sporting Lisbon manager is facing criticism for their disastrous Premier League campaign, which has witnessed 18 defeats with one game remaining. However, they remain unbeaten in Europe heading into tonight's final, and the TNT Sports analyst added: "I'm not suggesting all of those guys are the right players, by the way, because I believe the biggest problem they have is recruitment.
