Ghanaian socialite and musician Mona Faiz Montrage, widely known as Hajia4Reall, is scheduled for release today, May 22, 2025, from the Federal Detention Center in Philadelphia.
According to a report by Graphic Showbiz, the 32-year-old is concluding a prison term of one year and one day, following her conviction for conspiracy to receive stolen funds.
Montrage’s imprisonment resulted from her involvement in a West Africa-based criminal organization engaged in romance scams and internet fraud, which defrauded vulnerable elderly Americans of over $2 million.
The victim transferred approximately 82 wire payments to Montrage, amounting to around $89,000, under the belief that the funds were intended to support expenses related to her father's farm in Ghana.
Additionally, it was stated that Montrage managed bank accounts that collectively received more than $2 million in fraudulent proceeds from the criminal enterprise.
Prosecutors disclosed that she personally received money from approximately forty victims, which was deposited into U.S. bank accounts under false pretense. These schemes included fabricated gold transport payments and fictitious FBI investigations.
The public figure, who maintains a significant following on Instagram, was extradited from the United Kingdom to the United States in May 2023. She pleaded guilty in February 2024 and was sentenced on June 28, 2024, by U.S. District Judge J. Paul Oetken.
In addition to her incarceration, Montrage was sentenced to three years of supervised release, ordered to forfeit $216,475, and mandated to pay restitution amounting to $1,387,458.
Court documents reveal that the sentencing judge approved a schedule for her return to Ghana, as recommended by her legal counsel.
Montrage’s case underscores the growing global crackdown on cyber fraud and romance scams. As she prepares to return to Ghana, her future actions will likely be closely watched by both the public and legal authorities.
Her attorneys have informed the court that Montrage is ready to begin a new chapter in her life and contribute positively to society upon her repatriation.
