Even though Kotoko is six points behind Nations FC in the Ghana Premier League, coach Abdul Karim Zito has not given up on winning the league.

"No one can predict what will occur. It's finished for me unless we figure out how many games we've played and realize that if we win, we can advance. But I won't say it's over just yet.
In their upcoming match, Kotoko will face Medeama SC, the reigning champions, on Sunday, June 1, 2025.

Ahead of the Unity Cup matches, Black Stars coach Otto Addo has hailed the Ghana Premier League's quality.
This week, the four-time African champions will play Trinidad & Tobago, Jamaica, and Nigeria in a four-nation tournament in London.
Kwame Opoku of Asante Kotoko, Kamaridini Mamudu of Medeama SC, Benjamin Asare of Hearts of Oak, and Razak Simpson of Nations FC are the four local players included in the 23-man roster that was revealed on Monday for the games.
Before the games, Addo gave praise for the Ghanaian top flight's caliber.
He stated, "If you've watched our recent games, you'll see that we've always had local players in our squad and playing as well."
"I rate the league very high; otherwise, we wouldn’t have players in our squad who can compete on that level…and I’m looking forward to seeing them on that level," added Addo.
Ghana and Nigeria will play at the Gtech Community Stadium on Wednesday, May 28. On Saturday, May 31, either Trinidad and Tobago or Jamaica will face the victor.
