Chelsea have agreed a £30 million deal to sign Liam Delap from Ipswich Town, marking one of the club's first signing of the summer transfer window.
Delap, who scored 12 goals in the Premier League this season, has quickly risen to prominence after a successful stint at Ipswich Town. His physical style, combined with technical quality and a sharp eye for goal, has drawn comparisons to elite strikers.
Manchester United were interested to sign him and they've delayed which has brought interests from other clubs including Chelsea.
Also, Delap has seen that , Chelsea will play Champions league football next season even after winning the Uefa Conference League against Real betis last night.
Manchester United went trophyless and they will only be playing domestic trophies including, the EFl cup, Fa Cup and the English Premier League competing against the likes of, Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Newcastle United and even Chelsea.
Maresca who is Chelsea coach, is said to be a strong admirer of Delap’s potential and sees him as a core piece of his long term project at the club.
Delap’s arrival is expected to boost Chelsea's attacking options, which have been inconsistent in recent seasons. With a new manager and Champions League football, Chelsea appear determined to make a strong statement in the transfer market.
The deal is now in its final stages, with personal terms agreed. Once medical tests are completed, the signing will be officially announced, making Liam Delap Chelsea’s latest addition as they aim to rebuild under Maresca’s leadership.
