Before Asante Kotoko's pivotal Ghana Premier League match against Medeama SC on Sunday, head coach Abdul Karim Zito expressed his annoyance at the absence of some important players.
On May 30, the Porcupine Warriors will play a crucial game at Baba Yara Stadium at 15:00 GMT in an attempt to maintain their modest prospects of winning the championship.
However, a series of absences has hindered Kotoko's preparations, since four players have been ineligible for the match.
After receiving yellow cards in the goalless draw against Bibiani GoldStars, three players—defender Samba (O'Neil) Gilbani, captain Justice Blay, and midfielder Dauda Saaka—will miss the game.
Kwame Opoku, a striker for the Black Stars, is the fourth player missing since he is in London for the Unity Cup on international duty.
Speaking in a pre-game interview, Zito acknowledged that things were far from ideal and blamed their most recent game.
"When we played against Gold Stars, I genuinely hurried to the referee and assistant referee to complain that the yellow cards were excessive because I was not losing just Kwame Opoku.
Three of my normal players are not participating in that game. I am not happy, but there is nothing I can do," he remarked.
