Aboubakar Ouattara, the head coach of Hearts of Oak, is getting his team ready for a challenging final matchup with FC Samartex.

Ouattara is hopeful of placing in the top four despite the difficulties encountered during the season.

In their penultimate game, Hearts of Oak defeated Legon Cities 2-0, demonstrating the team's tenacity. The final encounter versus FC Samartex is now the main emphasis.

Our next game is against Samartex on Sunday. It is going to be one of the hardest games," Ouattara declared. "To evaluate and project ourselves into the upcoming season, we will require the points."

On Sunday, June 8, Hearts of Oak vs. FC Samartex will take place at the Accra Sports Stadium. Ouattara's squad is committed to finishing the season strong.

Akonnor is now part of the Black Stars' succession strategy.

Ghana's senior national team now has a clear succession plan in place, according to former Black Stars head coach Charles Kwabla Akonnor.

His remarks come after head coach Otto Addo gave several young, inexperienced players chances during the just-finished 2025 Unity Cup in London.

Important players like Inaki Williams, Antoine Semenyo, Mohammed Kudus, and Thomas Partey were conspicuously missing from the team.

Their first senior call-ups went to five newcomers: Joseph Tetteh Anang, Aaron Essel, Caleb Yirenkyi, Abdul Aziz Issah, and Mohammed Gaddafi Fuseini.

Akonnor, who captained the Black Stars from 2020 to 2021, expressed his admiration for the young players' undeveloped talent and promise in an interview with Graphic Sports.

"The young players may have good talent." This generation will eventually wane, which will present the coach with a chance to be replaced," he said.

With a new generation of players poised to take the field, he thinks the current approach demonstrates Ghana's active preparation for the future.

Ghana finished third in the Unity Cup after defeating Nigeria in their initial match and defeating Trinidad and Tobago 4-0.

In September, the Black Stars will reassemble for Matchdays 7 and 8 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, where they will play Mali and Chad.
