After leading his team to a 3-1 victory over Medeama SC on Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium with an incredible hat-trick, Asante Kotoko striker Albert Amoah has solidified his place in the running for the Ghana Premier League Golden Boot.
The attacker put on a brilliant display, scoring all three of Kotoko's goals to complete the victory and put him just three goals behind Berekum Chelsea's top scorer, Stephen Amankona, with 12 goals this season.
Medeama had taken the lead early, but Amoah's penalty kick in the 23rd minute cancelled it out. Kotoko then took the lead in the 40th minute with a hard header at the near post.
In the 79th minute, he concluded a strong individual performance by scoring another powerful header to complete his hat-trick.
Speaking after the game, Amoah expressed his opinion that it is still possible to overtake Amankona in the competition for the top scorer honor.
He noted his excellent scoring form and remarked, "It is not too late, everything is possible." "I achieved a hat-trick both today and at the Great Olympics in Accra. At home, I now have two hat-trick balls.
All eyes will be on Amoah as Kotoko gets ready for their season-ending away match against Vision FC to see if he can maintain his late surge and end the season as the league's best shooter.

Ivory Coast defeats Black Queens in the 2024 WAFCON warm-up
On Tuesday night in Abidjan, the Black Queens lost to Ivory Coast by a slim margin of 1-0, concluding their two-game friendly series ahead of the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
After giving up a 3-0 lead to tie 3-3 with the Ivorians just three days prior, coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren's team suffered a poor series finale.
Both teams battled through a goalless first half in the more competitive rematch before the home team scored in the 52nd minute. Ivory Coast maintained its lead as Ghana found it difficult to rally.
Ghana's preparations for WAFCON 2024, which begins on July 5, included the two games. Joining Mali, South Africa, and Tanzania in a difficult Group C is Ghana.
As his team prepares for a challenging opening match, Bjaerkegren will be concerned about their attacking inconsistencies and defensive shortcomings. Despite not making it to the tournament, Ivory Coast used the games to prepare for the future.
Before traveling to Morocco for the competition, the Black Queens will now make their way back to Accra.
