According to exclusive information from GHANAsoccernet.com, Ghanaian powerhouse Hearts of Oak have agreed in principle to name Maxwell Konadu as their new head coach.

Expected to succeed Aboubakar Ouattara, who will move into the position of Technical Director, is the former assistant coach for Asante Kotoko and the Black Stars.

Konadu, who has been unemployed since leaving the Black Leopards of South Africa, is currently finalizing the terms of the deal with the Phobians. In an attempt to regain their former glory and establish themselves as a dominant force in Ghanaian football, Hearts have made a significant move with their return to the top flight.

Having recently led Nsoatreman FC to an incredible MTN FA Cup victory before making a brief shift to South Africa, 52-year-old Konadu is no stranger to the Ghana Premier League. His extensive coaching background includes several stints as the assistant coach of Ghana's senior national team, the Black Stars, and periods as head coach of Ghana's U-23 team. He has trained under many well-known strategists throughout the years, including Chris Hughton, Otto Addo, Kwesi Appiah, Avram Grant, and Milovan Rajevac.

The odds are stacked against Konadu if the agreement is consummated. Hearts is going through a transitional period, even though Ouattara has guided the team to a solid fifth place in the current Ghana Premier League season. A significant roster makeover will be required at the end of the season due to the anticipated departure of several important players. In addition to stabilizing the ship, Konadu will have to reassemble a competitive team that can contend for championships.

Since their victory in 2021, Hearts of Oak have not won the league, but they remain determined to return to the top of Ghanaian football. The club's choice to promote Ouattara to a critical technical position and hire Konadu, a seasoned and well-known coach, shows a fresh commitment.

Being one of Ghana's most renowned coaches, Konadu's impending hire is probably going to inspire the supporters and give the team new hope. Hearts will be hopeful that his leadership can ignite a new era of success at the club, as he has a wealth of both domestic and international experience.
