Ken Ofori-Atta declared wanted by Interpol over corruption allegations.

The International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) has issued a Red Notice for former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, who is wanted in connection with multiple corruption allegations.

According to Interpol’s official website, Ofori-Atta is marked as “Wanted” for allegedly using his public office for personal gain.

This move comes after the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) declared Ofori-Atta wanted, following his failure to appear for a scheduled interrogation on June 2. The OSP subsequently initiated the process to place him on an Interpol Red Notice, with extradition proceedings now underway to facilitate his return to Ghana.

Ofori-Atta is under investigation for a range of high-profile cases, including alleged irregularities in contractual arrangements between Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) concerning petroleum and mineral revenue assurance.

He also faces accusations related to the unlawful termination of a contract between the Electricity Company of Ghana and Beijing Xiao Cheng Technology (BXC), irregularities in procurement and financial procedures tied to the construction of the National Cathedral, and suspected corruption in a Ministry of Health contract with Service Ghana Auto Group Limited involving the purchase and maintenance of ambulances.

Additionally, he is being probed for alleged mismanagement of funds from the GRA’s Tax P-Fund Account.

The issuance of the Red Notice enables international law enforcement agencies to locate and arrest Ofori-Atta for extradition.
