After the 2024–25 Ghana Premier League season, Asante Kotoko overcame Hearts of Oak to secure a top-four finish.
The two most successful teams in the Ghanaian Premier League entered Sunday's final weekend of play to finish the season strong.
In the season's last match, Asante Kotoko traveled to play Vision Football Club.
Vision FC came back from behind to win the game 3-1, despite the Porcupine Warriors scoring first.
In contrast, Hearts of Oak visited FC Samartex in a challenging match to round up the season.
After ninety minutes of play at Accra Sports Stadium, the Phobians emerged victorious with a slim 1-0 victory.
Regretfully, the victory was insufficient to move Hearts of Oak above Asante Kotoko in the league standings.
Despite finishing on the same number of points, 58, as Hearts of Oak, the Reds ended fourth in the league table due to Asante Kotoko's greater head-to-head advantage.

As the Gold Stars win the historic Ghana Premier League title, Western Region domination continues.
Gold Stars FC, the new champion of the Ghana Premier League, defeated the relegated Accra Lions 4-0 on Sunday to win the championship for the first time and to signal a major turning point for the Western Region.
As the third team from the Western Region to win the Premier League title in consecutive seasons, the Gold Stars' victory caps an incredible three-year run of domination by Western Region clubs. The Miners now follow in the footsteps of Medeama SC, who won the trophy in 2022–2023, and FC Samartex 1996, who were the 2023–2024 season champions.
In front of a boisterous audience at Duns Park in Bibiani, Gold Stars put on a show fit for a champion. Frank Amankwah, Kelvin Oppong, Samuel Kumi, and Abdul Farouk Amoaful all scored goals to seal a decisive victory and spark celebrations throughout the mining town.
Like Medeama and Samartex did in the two seasons prior, the title triumph not only guarantees their place in history but also grants them the opportunity to represent Ghana in the 2025–26 CAF Champions League preliminary round. It is yet another indication of Western Region football's growing influence and impact on the national game.
As established football powerhouses like Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko continue to face fierce opposition from up-and-coming western forces, the Gold Stars' ascent to the top of the league represents a larger change in the balance of power in Ghanaian football.
This title is more than simply a trophy to the ardent followers in Bibiani and throughout the Western Region; it is a representation of pride, tenacity, and regional dominance.
The Western Region has solidified its position as the beating heart of Ghanaian club football, with three separate clubs from the region winning the championship in a row.
