OFFICIAL: Rayan Aït-Nouri Joins Manchester City on Five-Year Deal

Manchester City have officially completed the signing of Algerian international Rayan Aït-Nouri from Wolverhampton Wanderers in a deal worth €37 million plus add-ons. The highly rated 23-year-old left-back has put pen to paper on a five-year contract, becoming the club’s first major signing of the summer transfer window.

Aït-Nouri’s move to the Etihad marks a significant addition to Pep Guardiola’s squad, as the Spanish tactician looks to refresh his defensive options ahead of another demanding campaign. Known for his dynamic dribbling, attacking flair, and defensive versatility, Aït-Nouri has impressed during his time in the Premier League with Wolves, earning plaudits for his maturity and consistency despite his young age.

Sources close to Manchester City confirm that Guardiola identified Aït-Nouri early in the summer as a priority target, valuing the Algerian's ability to operate both as a traditional full-back and in more advanced, inverted roles. With Joško Gvardiol often used as a centre-back and Nathan Aké rotating at left-back, Aït-Nouri’s arrival adds depth, energy, and tactical flexibility to City’s backline.

"I'm proud and excited to join Manchester City, a club with a winning mentality and a clear footballing identity," Aït-Nouri said in his first interview as a City player. "To work under Pep Guardiola and alongside some of the best players in the world is a dream come true. I can't wait to get started and help the team achieve even more success."

Wolverhampton, meanwhile, will receive a significant financial boost from the sale, with the deal reportedly including performance-based add-ons that could see the fee rise closer to €45 million. Aït-Nouri leaves Molineux after three successful seasons, where he made over 100 appearances and became a fan favorite for his attacking runs and composure under pressure.

Manchester City’s summer activity is far from over. Following the announcement of Aït-Nouri, attention now turns to two more potential additions: Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders and French playmaker Rayan Cherki. Negotiations are reportedly underway, with Guardiola eager to reshape his midfield and attacking options for the 2025/26 season.

City fans will now await Aït-Nouri’s debut in sky blue, hopeful that the Algerian star can add another dimension to Guardiola’s ever-evolving system — and help propel the club to more silverware in the seasons to come.
