Aboubakar Ouattara, the head coach of Hearts of Oak, has expressed gratitude to his detractors, claiming that their taunts inspired his club to do well in the 2024–2025 Ghana Premier League season.
The Phobians defeated FC Samartex 1-0 on Sunday to wrap up the league season on a high note.
In a post-game interview, coach Aboubakar Ouattara thanked Hearts of Oak supporters for their encouragement and thanked critics for helping his team win this season.
"People have been saying too many things and abusing us, but that is football." Additionally, some people have been disparaging the players and the board. We are grateful to them today since their insult and criticism motivated us to perform well," the Hearts of Oak coach remarked.
Hearts of Oak, a team that nearly lost to relegation in the 2023–24 football season, improved this season to finish fifth in the league table with 58 points, tied with fourth-place finisher Asante Kotoko and only five points behind league winners Gold Stars.
To contend for the league title the next season, coach Ouattara expects the Phobians to keep getting better.

With 60 points from the victory, Heart of Lions placed third in the Ghana Premier League standings.
Coach Bashir Hayford said, "I do not know," when asked if he would continue to lead Heart of Lions in his post-game interview. I am not sure for myself. I do not know yet, but I will travel wherever the wind leads me.
Before making a decision about his future, the seasoned strategist is expected to meet with Heart of Lions management during the off-season.
Coach Bashir Hayford is likely to remain with the team for the upcoming football season after the team has had a very successful season.
