So, you know, Bonsu Baah was named in the Black Stars' squad for those Matchday 5 and 6 games against Chad and Madagascar back in March for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. But, funny enough, he didn’t actually get to play in any of those matches.
Fast forward to the recent Unity Cup in London, though, and wow, did he turn heads! The young winger really shone during the Black Stars' impressive 4-0 victory over Trinidad and Tobago, helping the team secure third place in the tournament.
In a chat with 3Sports, Baah couldn’t help but praise Jordan Ayew for the way he supported him. “Before our game against Chad in Accra, I popped into Jordan’s room for some advice on my game,” he shared. “He’s really friendly and just a great guy. All the senior players are, actually. They opened up and shared their feelings, which made me feel like I truly belonged to the team. It really helped me enjoy the moment.”
At just 20 years old, Baah’s presence in the Ghana squad during the qualifiers earlier this year may not have been felt on the pitch, but he definitely made a mark in the Unity Cup. Fans back home were buzzing after seeing his skills on display, especially during that big win against Trinidad and Tobago.
When he got to train and play alongside big names like Thomas Partey and Jordan Ayew, he was simply in awe. “I mean, I really wanted to see them! In training, I couldn’t take my eyes off them,” he admitted with a smile. “I thought, ‘Wow, this is a dream come true for me to play with them.’”
Looking ahead, Baah is eager to keep his spot in the squad when Ghana takes on Chad and Mali in Matchday 7 and 8 of the qualifiers this September. He’s hoping he can shine alongside his idols. After all, with the World Cup qualifiers kicking back up, his role could really make a difference for the team.
