Golden Kick Coach Unfazed by Kotoko Ahead of FA Cup Final
Golden Kick SC head coach, Malik Jabir, has downplayed the threat posed by Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko ahead of their highly anticipated MTN FA Cup final clash. Despite the gulf in pedigree and experience between the two sides, Jabir remains confident that his team has what it takes to spring a surprise.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference, the coach expressed respect for Kotoko’s rich history and achievements but insisted that the underdog tag holds no fear for his players. “We are not intimidated by names. Football is played on the pitch, not on paper. Kotoko is a great club, no doubt, but we believe in our preparation, discipline, and determination,” he stated.
Golden Kick’s fairy-tale run to the final has been one of the biggest stories of this year’s FA Cup, having eliminated several top-tier teams along the way. Jabir believes this momentum gives his side the mental edge heading into the final. “This journey has taught us resilience. We’ve come from the lower divisions and fought our way here. That spirit will carry us through,” he added.
While Kotoko are clear favorites, with a squad full of Premier League experience and a massive fanbase behind them, Golden Kick’s coach says the pressure is on the Porcupine Warriors to deliver. “They are expected to win. That gives us freedom to play our game. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain.”
