Legends of Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko will square off in a thrilling match to begin the 2024 MTN FA Cup final, setting the stage for an entertaining Sunday at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

In an attempt to improve the fan experience before the eagerly awaited match between Asante Kotoko and Golden Kick FC, Wilson Arthur, the chairman of the FA Cup Committee, revealed plans for the unique curtain raiser.

Arthur told Asempa FM, "This year's final will be spectacular." "Before the game begins, Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak luminaries will have a curtain raiser.

"The fans will enjoy a cultural show and other lovely events."

Arthur praised both finalists' efforts, emphasizing Golden Kick's remarkable run to the championship game. He called the Division One team from Accra "giant killers" that will pose a serious threat to Asante Kotoko, the Premier League's biggest team.

"You can only expect a magnificent game when Golden Kick plays Asante Kotoko in the final since they were the giant killers in this year's FA Cup," he remarked. "I promise everyone that we will see a fantastic game."

The victor of the final, which begins at 17:00 GMT on Sunday, will be eligible to play for Ghana in the CAF Confederation Cup in 2025–2026.

Desmond Ofei, assistant coach for the Black Stars, will leave his position as Ghana U20 coach.

Following Ghana's hosting of the WAFU Zone A and B tournament, Desmond Ofei will leave his position as head coach of the Black Satellites, according to the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

A new date has not yet been established for the competition, which was initially scheduled for June.

The choice is one of several technical reassignments made to the national teams to increase concentration and output.

Ofei will now focus on his responsibilities as assistant coach of the senior national team, the Black Stars, after being named head coach of Ghana's U-20 squad in 2023.

The Black Satellites qualified for the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations under his direction after winning gold at the 2024 African Games and placing second in the WAFU Zone B Championship. However, the team's failure to get to the semifinals of the continental competition in Egypt cost them a spot at the FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Ofei's coaching experience includes positions with Lokeren U-21, Lusitano SAD, and Royal Antwerp FC as a U-18 and U-21 coach. In addition, he is the Head of High Performance in the Technical Directorate of the GFA.
