Despite the team's dismal Ghana Premier League campaign, Asante Kotoko midfielder Emmanuel Antwi is determined to salvage the season with FA Cup glory.
The Porcupines finished third with 58 points, falling short of their high expectations for the season.
Antwi said, "We, the players, are a bit disappointed in ourselves." The club had set goals to win the FA Cup and the league, but they finished in third place as their play deteriorated toward the conclusion of the season.
Karim Zito took over as head coach after Prosper Narteh Ogum was fired due to the team's dismal performance. Even though they only lost once in their last six games, Kotoko was unable to bounce back and win the league title.
Nonetheless, Antwi emphasized that the club still has an opportunity to improve the season by defeating Golden Kick in the MTN FA Cup final on June 15 at the University of Ghana Stadium.
He emphasized the team's resolve to finish the season on a high note by saying, "But we are still in the FA Cup final, and we have one more game to make it up to the supporters."

Ernest Poku will sign a new contract with AZ Alkmaar that will pay more.
To retain one of its best young players past 2026, AZ Alkmaar is close to signing Ernest Poku to a new contract.
According to AZ director Max Huiberts, who claims negotiations are still underway, the extended contracts will also include cash incentives for exceptional players like Poku.
With a Transfermarkt valuation of €4 million, the 21-year-old winger is still becoming more and more important at the club. Poku has steadily improved after being promoted to the first team on January 28, 2022, after his prior contract renewal.
On April 28, 2024, he scored his first Eredivisie goal and AZ's third in a 3-0 victory over NEC Nijmegen on the road. It was his breakthrough moment. It concluded a strong season in which he played in 23 league games, scored twice, and provided three assists.
AZ's wish to keep him on board shows how much they value Poku's development and contribution to the team's long-term goals. The club will demonstrate its long-term faith in the Ghanaian player, who was born in the Netherlands, if the transaction closes.
