Ghanaian powerhouse Asante Kotoko has removed its ban on Asempa FM, a radio station based in Accra.

The club in Kumasi banned Asempa FM on March 3, 2025, after the station's broadcast of a program on the passing of a devoted follower named Francis Yaw Frimpong, also known as Pooley, raised grave worries.

The club criticized the station's handling of the problem and the absence of editorial accountability after the show.

The club thus forbade the radio station from reporting on any of its events.

Three months later, Asante Kotoko declared that the ban had been lifted following positive discussions with the management of Multimedia Group, Asempa FM's parent business.

After positive discussions with the Multimedia Group's management, Asante Kotoko SC has lifted the ban on Asempa FM.

"Multimedia Group acknowledged these issues and pledged to uphold stronger editorial standards through recent discussions. Consequently, the club believes that the matter has been resolved and that the ban has been revoked, with immediate effect." A club statement signed by Samuel Sarfo Duku, the director of communications, was released on Thursday, June 12.
