A devastating incident has unfolded in the Eastern region, where a 14-year-old candidate from Kwahu Praso Preparatory School has tragically died just days after complaining of a minor headache. The death was confirmed on Thursday, June 12, 2025, leaving family members, friends, and classmates in a profound state of shock and sorrow.
The father of the deceased, Godwin Osei, expressed his heartbreak over the loss of his beloved daughter. He recounted the events leading up to her untimely passing, saying, "She complained of a headache and took some tablets before going in to write the paper on the first day. On her return, she felt weak and rested at our neighbor's house. I was called to pick her up. I took her to Kwahu Praso Clinic so she could receive care. We left the clinic for home, but she kept vomiting throughout the night. I had to rush her to the Holy Family Hospital at Nkawkaw. The nurses did their best to stabilize her, but she passed away. She didn’t have any chronic ailment that I know of," he shared, his voice laden with grief.
Classmates of the young girl shared their shock and sorrow at her sudden death. "I was shocked upon hearing of her passing. I couldn't believe it. We were all here yesterday, after the first exam. We knew she was sick. We will miss our friendly and lovely colleague," one classmate remarked, highlighting the deep impact her loss has had on her peers.
In the wake of this tragedy, the Kwahu South Municipal Director of Education, Williams Frimpong, along with the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Effah Osei Bonsu David, visited the exam center to console the grieving students. "We have consoled her peers to write the exams. Thankfully, the teachers have also provided support in that regard. Additionally, we have visited the families to express our condolences," Frimpong noted.
