Bryan Acheampong, Minister for Food and Agriculture and Member of Parliament for Abetifi, has urged members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to move beyond internal divisions and work together to rebuild and strengthen the party ahead of the 2024 general elections. Addressing party supporters and stakeholders at a recent gathering, Acheampong emphasized the importance of unity, discipline, and a renewed sense of purpose in safeguarding the party’s future.
"The time has come for us to rise above factions and personal interests," Acheampong stated. "What unites us must be stronger than what divides us. The real opponent is not within – it is outside. Let us stop the internal wrangling and focus on what matters most: winning the trust of the Ghanaian people and delivering on our mandate."
Acheampong acknowledged that the NPP has faced internal challenges, particularly after its presidential primaries, but insisted that such periods must be followed by reconciliation and strategic rebuilding. He called on party leaders at all levels to demonstrate maturity, fairness, and inclusiveness as they guide the rank-and-file towards a common goal.
"We must remember that the NPP is bigger than any individual or group," he continued. "Our shared values and vision for Ghana’s development should drive us forward. If we remain divided, we hand victory to our opponents without a fight."
He also urged the youth of the party to stay focused and committed, encouraging them to avoid being used as tools in factional battles. Acheampong stressed that every member of the party has a role to play in ensuring the NPP remains a strong, credible, and electable political force.
With just months to go before the general elections, Acheampong’s message comes at a crucial time when political parties are consolidating their base and preparing for the national contest. His call for unity and rebuilding serves as both a warning and a rallying cry – that unless the NPP pulls together, it risks squandering its achievements and losing the trust of the electorate.
