🔥Iran Accuses Israel of Expanding Regional Conflict After Gulf Gas Facility Attack

Tehran, June 15, 2025 — Iran's Foreign Minister on Sunday condemned an attack on a major gas facility along the country's Gulf coast, accusing Israel of orchestrating the strike in an effort to escalate tensions and "expand the war beyond" Iran’s borders.

Speaking at a press conference in Tehran, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said the attack, which occurred late Saturday night, was a "cowardly and provocative act" aimed at dragging the region into wider conflict.

“This is not just an attack on Iran’s energy infrastructure,” Amir-Abdollahian stated. “It is an attack on regional stability, a dangerous attempt by the Zionist regime to expand the war beyond its borders and inflame a broader confrontation in the Gulf.”

The targeted facility, located near the port city of Asaluyeh, is a key part of Iran’s South Pars gas field operations, one of the largest natural gas reserves in the world. Iranian officials confirmed that drones were used in the assault, causing a large fire and disrupting gas processing operations. Emergency crews worked through the night to contain the damage, and no casualties have been reported so far.

While Israel has not officially commented on the incident, it has previously warned that it would act against what it calls Iran’s destabilizing activities in the region, including support for militant groups in Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen.

Iranian military officials have vowed a response, though they stopped short of specifying the nature or timing of any retaliation. “We reserve the right to defend our sovereignty and interests,” said Brigadier General Ramezan Sharif, a spokesperson for Iran’s Revolutionary Guard.

The attack comes amid heightened tensions across the Middle East, with ongoing hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon, increasing unrest in Syria, and maritime skirmishes in the Red Sea. Analysts warn that further escalation could threaten global energy markets and security in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital shipping lane.

International calls for restraint have begun to surface, with the United Nations urging both nations to avoid actions that could spiral into a broader regional war. Meanwhile, Iran has called for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council to address the attack.
