At the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon on Sunday night, Asante Kotoko defeated lower-division team Golden Kick FC 2-1 in an exciting final to claim their ninth FA Cup championship.

Both teams displayed early attacking intent, and the game lived up to expectations.

Albert Amoah and Paul Yeboah had a momentary injury scare due to a tough and competitive start, but both players were able to continue.

Following Lord Amoah's daring run and accurate set-piece, Kwame Opoku made a brilliant move to give Kotoko the lead in the seventeenth minute.

With a resolute response, Golden Kick equalized in the 32nd minute with a spectacular free-kick from Bless Ege.

Both teams created chances during the end-to-end second half.

A defensive blunder almost cost Kotoko, but Emmanuel Antwi, a replacement, gave their midfield much-needed control and started several offensive plays.

Amidu Acquah had a golden chance in the 84th minute but missed it.

In the last minute of regular time, Kwame Opoku and goalie Kelvin Saaba clashed, earning Kotoko a controversial penalty. This was the game-changing moment.

Opoku sealed the win with a composed conversion from the spot.

This victory guarantees Kotoko's return to continental competition as they qualify for the 2025–2026 CAF Confederation Cup, adding a tenth FA Cup to their illustrious history.
