It has not been hard to switch from working with Prosper Narteh Ogum to Karim Zito, according to Asante Kotoko goalie Fredrick Asare.

Asare's comments follow the Porcupine Warriors' 2-1 FA Cup victory over lower-tier Golden Kick FC at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Asare thinks it was easy to adjust to Coach Zito's style, even if he did not get much playing time under Zito.

The former WAFA goalie told Citi Sports, "I think they have a similar style of play, therefore the transfer was not that difficult."

"We did not find it that difficult since we were eager to do something for ourselves also," he continued, adding that we had to adjust to their play style, which was very comparable.

Asante Kotoko will play for the nation in the 2025–2026 CAF Confederation Cup after winning the FA Cup.

In advance of the World Cup, the GFA releases the 2025–2026 football schedule.

After a thorough presentation by the General Secretary at its June 9 meeting, the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) adopted the 2025–26 Omnibus Competitions Calendar.

According to the GFA Statutes and accounting cycle, the new football season will begin on July 1, 2025, and end on June 30, 2026. The 23rd FIFA World Cup, which begins on June 11, 2026, was taken into consideration when creating the schedule. We anticipate that all of the major domestic contests will conclude prior to the start of the global event.

The 2025–2026 season's salient elements include:

Premier League: Games will still take place on Sundays, with certain matchups having midweek schedules.
Both the Malta Guinness Women's Premier League and the Division One League continue to play on Sundays.

MTN FA Cup: A few matches in the Round of 64 and Round of 63 may take place in the middle of the week, while most of the matches will be during the weekend. The Women's FA Cup will only take place on weekends.

This season marks the return of the GFA eFootball Competition, a digital competition that provides a route to the national eFootball squad.

The GFA's enlarged tournament system will continue to include the Beach Soccer and Futsal Premier Leagues.

Regional Football: The Colts Leagues (U13, U15, and U17) and all other Regional Football Association (RFA) leagues, including Division Two, Division Three, and Regional Women's Division One, will start play on or before October 1, 2025, and end on May 31, 2026.

After successful tests in the Northern and Greater Accra Regions, the Girls Colts competitions (U15 and U17) will expand nationwide for the 2025–2026 season. The Ten RFAs and FIFA's Women's Football Development initiative are supporting the project.

Off-season Events: The schedule includes events like the KGL Foundation U17 Colts Championship, the Boys U15 Elite Competition, the Elite U19 Second Division Championship, and the Elite U15 Girls Championship.

The purpose of releasing important dates early is to allow stakeholders enough time to prepare, such as club registration periods and the 31st GFA Annual Congress. According to the GFA, it is still committed to providing a competitive and organized season for players of all ages and categories.
