Following their victory in the MTN FA Cup over the weekend, Asante Kotoko's players and technical staff were treated to a special meal.

The Porcupine Warriors won their eleventh FA Cup trophy in a thrilling final on Sunday night at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon, defeating lower-division team Golden Kick FC 2-1.

Lord Amoah's driving run and accurate set-piece set the stage for Kwame Opoku's well-executed move, which gave Kotoko the lead in the 17th minute of the thrilling final.

With a resolute response, Golden Kick equalized in the 32nd minute with a spectacular free-kick from Bless Ege.

Both teams created chances during the end-to-end second half.

A defensive blunder almost cost Kotoko, but Emmanuel Antwi, a replacement, gave their midfield much-needed control and started several offensive plays.

Amidu Acquah had a golden chance in the 84th minute but missed it.

In the last minute of regular time, Kwame Opoku and goalie Kelvin Saaba clashed, earning Kotoko a controversial penalty. This was the game-changing moment.

Opoku sealed the win with a composed conversion from the spot.

The Asante Kotoko leadership rewarded the players and technical staff with a special meal today to honor the team's accomplishments and recognize them for finishing the season with a trophy.

Asante Kotoko has gained the right to play for Ghana in the CAF Confederation Cup the following season, thanks to their victory in the MTN FA Cup.

Wilson Arthur: "I will only remain the Chairman of the FA Cup Committee if I am allowed to work freely."

If allowed the freedom to work, Wilson Arthur, the chairman of the FA Cup Committee, has hinted that he will continue to serve.

Since taking over for Kurt Okraku in November 2019, the Skyy FC bankroller has been in command of the Committee.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, his debut season was cut short, but three more seasons have since been planned.

Following a successful fourth season, Mr. Arthur made a suggestion that he would only stay on provided he was allowed to work unhindered.

He told Sporty FM, "It is not solely within my ability to continue as the Chairman of the FA Cup Committee."

"However, I will only remain the FA Cup Chairman if I am allowed to have authority over our actions," he continued.

After defeating lower-tier team Golden Kick 2-1, Asante Kotoko were the 2024–25 season champions.

The Reds will compete in the 2025–2026 CAF Confederation Cup on behalf of Ghana.
