The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that the 2025 Champion of Champions match, which traditionally opens the Ghanaian football season, will take place on Sunday, August 31, 2025.

The 2025–2026 Ghana Premier League season will officially begin with this one-off match.

According to Article 9 of the Premier League Regulations, the match would pit MTN FA Cup winners Asante Kotoko against the defending league champions Gold Stars in a contest for the season's first trophy and early bragging rights.

After creating history by winning their first-ever Premier League title in the 2024–2025 season, the Gold Stars secured their spot in the match. By winning the 2025 MTN FA Cup, Ghana's most decorated team, Asante Kotoko, cemented their place and added to their legendary history.

In addition to marking the beginning of a new football season, the Champion of Champions game gives supporters an exciting sneak peek at the caliber, competition, and excitement that can be anticipated in the months to come.

In a tournament known for its fierce competition and intensity, FC Samartex 1996 won the title last year after defeating Nsoatreman FC 1-0 at the TNA Stadium in Tarkwa.

With Gold Stars and Asante Kotoko looking to start the season strong, the 2025 Champion of Champions matchup between two strong teams is sure to be an exciting one.

Joel Fameyeh and Puskás Akadémia in Hungary are on the verge of making history.

From humble beginnings at Ghana's Namoro Football Academy to the precipice of European football's biggest stage, 28-year-old forward Joel Fameyeh is set to make history with Puskás Akadémia FC, a top-tier team in Hungary.

As the 2024–25 season comes to a close, Puskás Akadémia is three points behind league leaders Ferencváros in second place.

Crucially, though, they have the head-to-head advantage; therefore, a win over Diósgyőr in their final match, along with a Ferencváros error, might make them the first-ever Hungarian champions.

This moment has been building for years. This season is Puskás Akadémia's best opportunity to continue their climb to the top of Hungarian football, though they came close in the 2020–21 season as runners-up. The team has already reached a significant milestone—qualification for the 2025–2026 UEFA Europa League—before the competition even begins.

But if they win, the benefits are even bigger: Joel Fameyeh, a gifted Ghanaian, and the team will automatically qualify for the UEFA Champions League, which would be a huge step forward.

Joel Fameyeh is the driving force behind this amazing adventure. With a combination of technique, power, and unwavering work ethic, the Ghanaian striker has led the line and produced consistently excellent performances, playing a key role in Puskás Akadémia's title bid.

In addition to receiving praise at home, his comeback in Hungary has sparked speculation about a possible return to Ghana's Black-Stars, the country's national side.

From his early days at Namoro Football Academy to his rise to prominence in one of Hungary's most exciting title chases in recent memory, Fameyeh's journey is one of tenacity and advancement.

With supporters from Berekum to Felcsút supporting him, the Ghanaian forward is the center of attention as he gets ready for what might be the match that defines his career.

In addition to being a historic win for Puskás Akadémia, a victory on the last day would be a wonderful moment for Ghanaian football and everyone who has supported Fameyeh's ascent.
