RB Leipzig have placed a massive £68.4m to £85.5m (€80m–€100m) price tag on rising star Benjamin Šeško, with Arsenal leading the chase for the Slovenian striker. The Bundesliga club are holding firm on their valuation amid growing interest from Europe's elite clubs, as Sesko continues to impress with his sharp goalscoring form in the 2024/25 season.
At just 21 years old, Sesko is widely regarded as one of Europe’s most promising strikers, and Leipzig know they hold a prized asset. While Arsenal have entered “concrete talks” over a summer move, the Gunners may face stiff competition — and a steep asking price.
Benjamin Sesko’s performances this season have justified the hype. The Slovenian forward has emerged as a reliable goal machine for RB Leipzig, racking up:
21 goals in all competitions
6 assists
13 goals in the Bundesliga
4 in the DFB-Pokal
4 in the UEFA Champions League
In total, Sesko played 45 matches in 2024/25, meaning he averaged a goal contribution roughly every 1.95 games. That puts him in the same conversation as Europe’s top young forwards — and explains why Leipzig have no intention of selling him cheaply.
His physicality, aerial strength, and calm finishing make him a perfect modern No. 9. Combine that with his age, and it’s no surprise Leipzig are demanding a fee upwards of £85m.
Arsenal have made Sesko their priority striker target this summer, according to multiple reports. Mikel Arteta is keen to bring in competition for Gabriel Jesus and strengthen the Gunners’ attack after a narrowly missed Premier League title.
However, RB Leipzig are holding out for at least €80m, and while Arsenal hope to negotiate down to around €65–70m, no formal bid has been submitted yet.
But Arsenal aren’t alone. Other clubs in the race include:
Chelsea, who are actively seeking a new striker
Liverpool, as they begin life under Arne Slot
Barcelona and Juventus, both long-term admirers
Manchester United, who have monitored Sesko since 2022
Yet, it’s Arsenal who currently lead the pack, thanks to Champions League football, squad stability, and their reputation for developing young talent under Arteta.
With Leipzig not desperate to sell and Sesko under contract until 2028, this saga may drag on through the summer unless a club meets their demands early. But the Slovenian’s growing reputation, combined with his Champions League pedigree and impressive numbers, make it likely someone will blink.
If Arsenal want a marquee striker to elevate their title push in 2025, they may need to pay Leipzig’s premium — or risk watching another elite forward slip away.
