The Gunners, who fell short in the Premier League
title race for the third season in a row, are in search of quality attacking
options to bolster their squad ahead of the 2025-26 campaign. According to
journalist Ben Jacobs, the
English side reportedly held talks with Madrid winger Rodrygo in
May and they have now learned the Spanish club's asking price for the
Brazilian.

with Madrid at the Club World Cup in the US and could next be seen in action on
Wednesday in their tournament opener against Al-Hilal.
Speculation over Rodygo's
future intensified at the end of last season following his omission from the
starting line up of the title deciding El Clasico, and reports suggesting he
had grown disillusioned with life at the Bernabeu.
Arteta’s admiration for
Rodrygo has led Arsenal to closely monitor the situation in Madrid, but
Alonso’s latest comments may cool hopes of a potential summer swoop.
Arsenal have
earmarked Real Madrid playmaker Brahim Diaz as an ideal
alternative to top target Rodrygo, according to a report.
The
Gunners have been tipped to take advantage of the uncertainty surrounding the
future of Rodrygo, whom they have supposedly given serious consideration to
a move for.
However,
there has been little to no progress on that front in recent weeks, as the
South American is said to be determined to prove his worth to new Real boss
Xabi Alonso during the Club World Cup.
Arsenal
are still believed to be monitoring developments on Rodrygo's future, but they
are not putting all of their eggs in the Brazilian's basket in case he proves
unattainable.
Instead,
a report from Fichajes - via The Mirror - suggests that
ex-Manchester City starlet Diaz has been identified as a suitable alternative
to the South American.
