A young Ghanaian kid has shocked people by displaying a palace he constructed on his own property, only days after passing the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). Kofi Mensah, a Central Region student, accomplished what many people still aspire to: he became a proud and stylish homeowner at the age of 15.
Kofi entered the spotlight after leaving the exam room. As
images and videos of his new house went viral on social media, his tale gained
widespread attention. The property is painted brilliant white with grey accents
and is situated in a quiet village outside Cape Coast. It features tiled
floors, contemporary windows, a large courtyard, and even a water storage
system. The idea that such a young individual could do this in such a short
period of time was difficult for many internet users to accept.
Kofi claims that he started taking his life seriously before
he even finished school. He worked in construction alongside his uncle while he
was a junior in high school. He started a modest phone repair business in his
village after saving money from his weekend work. He made smart financial
decisions and eventually attracted devoted clients.
“I didn’t want to waste my time,” Kofi said in an interview.
“After school, I would fix phones and help my uncle on building sites. I knew I
wanted to build a house before SHS.”
Both of his parents, farmers, said they were proud. With a
grin, his mother remarked, "Kofi is a focused child." He always
managed to make money and save it, even when we didn't have much. We are really
proud of him.
The town is talking about the mansion. Every day, neighbours
stop over to snap photos and witness it for themselves. He is considered an
inspiration by some. Some refer to him as a genius. However, one thing is
certain: Kofi has served as a role model for Ghana's young.
As he prepares for senior high school, Kofi says this is
just the beginning. “I want to build more houses and start a construction
company one day. This is my dream, and I’m not stopping here.”
Indeed, from classroom to castle, Kofi has made history in
his own way.
