So, Athletic Club is gearing up to report Barcelona to La Liga in hopes of pushing for a thorough financial audit. Why? Well, they want to hold on to Nico Williams this summer.

According to Cadena Ser, Athletic's sent a team over to Madrid. This group includes their president, Jon Uriarte, and general manager, Jon Berasategi. They're looking to shake things up and get a full look at Barca's financial dealings because they believe the club hasn't followed the league's 1:1 rule, which basically says clubs can only spend what they earn.

Now, here’s the scoop on Williams. He’s told Athletic that he’s keen on making the move to Barcelona. However, Radio Bilbao is reporting that Athletic is ready to put up a fight to keep him. They’re insisting there’s no agreement in place for him to leave this summer—after all, he just signed a new deal back in December. His release clause? Just over €60 million (that’s around £51 million or $70 million). But, Athletic is planning to ask La Liga to block any transfer until Barca shows they can meet that 1:1 rule.

Laporta, Barcelona’s president, spoke to Mundo Deportivo and mentioned, “We don’t have bad relations with Athletic. Sure, there have been some misunderstandings and little incidents over the years, but it’s not like we’re enemies. We have a long history together.”

He added, “Honestly, I don’t really get the reactions from them. With all due respect, everyone should focus on their own business. I don’t think it’s right that they’re bringing us up in La Liga discussions, but hey, they know what they’re doing.”

When asked about the 1:1 rule, he said, “We’re working on it. We were already compliant during the winter market. We’ve taken the necessary steps to sign players normally without being financially constrained like we were before. We just need to stick to certain guidelines.”

Switching gears, most of the buzz in the group has been around big names like Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Alejandro Garnacho. But then there’s Malacia. Poor guy might be feeling a bit lost in the shuffle when it comes to his future.

The 25-year-old, who has nine caps under his belt, spent the last three months of the 2024-25 season on loan at PSV Eindhoven back in his home country. He made his way to Old Trafford from Feyenoord for about £13 million in 2022. And, well, it seems there hasn't been much of a line forming for his services this summer.
