Kennedy Agyapong Emerges as Top Choice in NPP Leadership Poll by Nhyira FM
A recent poll by Nhyira FM has placed Kennedy Agyapong as the leading candidate to take up the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential flagbearer position in the next election. The findings were shared via Facebook on Thursday, June 26, 2025.
The survey was carried out using a mixed approach—collecting opinions both online through social media platforms and offline by speaking directly with citizens on the ground. In total, 42 respondents participated, all answering a single key question: “Who should become the next flagbearer for the NPP?”
According to the poll results, Kennedy Agyapong came out on top, securing 22 votes. This gave him a commanding 52.38% share of the total votes, placing him well ahead of his competitors.
Trailing behind Agyapong were former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and current Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum. Each of them garnered 8 votes, making up 19.05% apiece.
Former Agriculture Minister Bryan Acheampong followed with 4 votes, which accounted for 9.52% of the total. Meanwhile, NPP members Patrick Boamah and Kwabena Agyapong failed to gain any support in the poll.
The results have sparked discussion both within NPP circles and among political observers. Many see Agyapong’s strong showing as a reflection of his growing popularity, particularly following his impressive performance in the 2024 NPP primaries and his reputation for being outspoken and fearless. Some were surprised, however, that Dr. Bawumia—a prominent figure in the party and the 2024 presidential candidate—didn’t come out on top.
While the sample size was relatively small, the poll provides insight into public sentiment among a segment of Ghanaians regarding who they see as the future face of the NPP.
The poll results have generated conversations among party members and the public. Some believe that Kennedy Agyapong’s strong performance in the 2024 NPP primaries and his bold personality make him a strong contender for 2028. Others are surprised that popular figures like Dr. Bawumia did not lead the poll.
Although the poll sample was small, it gives an idea of how some Ghanaians feel about the future leadership of the NPP.
