Trump Warns Israel Against Further Strikes on Iran Amid Fragile Ceasefire.

Former US President Donald Trump has warned Israel not to launch additional attacks on Iran, just hours after he announced that a ceasefire between the two sides had come into effect.

Speaking on his Truth Social platform, Trump urged both nations to respect the US and Qatar-brokered truce, using strong language to criticise both sides for undermining the agreement. His comments followed accusations from each side that the other had already breached the deal.

 When Did the Ceasefire Begin?

Trump first declared that a truce had been “fully agreed” at around 22:00 GMT on Monday, calling it an end to what he described as “the 12-day war.” He later confirmed the ceasefire had officially taken effect at 05:00 GMT on Tuesday, urging: “Please do not violate it!”

Israel said it accepted the US-brokered proposal shortly after 06:00 GMT, following Iran’s indication that it would halt its attacks if Israel did the same. However, within hours, Israel accused Iran of launching fresh missile attacks on its territory.

 What Has Trump Said?

In a post on Truth Social, Trump warned Israel: “Do not drop those bombs” on Iran. Speaking to reporters outside the White House shortly after, he expressed frustration with both sides, saying he was “not happy” with Israel.

“There was one rocket fired after the deadline, and now Israel is escalating. These guys need to calm down,” Trump remarked. In an angry outburst, he criticised both nations, saying, “They don’t know what they’re doing.” Later, he reaffirmed that “the ceasefire is in effect.”

 Iran and Israel Trade Accusations

Despite the ceasefire announcement, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that missiles had been launched from Iran, calling it a “complete violation” of the truce. Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz ordered intensified military action targeting Tehran and Iranian military infrastructure.

Iran denied firing missiles after the ceasefire came into force. However, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) later admitted that it had targeted Israeli military and logistical centres “in the final moments before the ceasefire was imposed.”

Iranian state media also reported that Israel carried out a “three-phase” military strike on Iranian territory after the ceasefire began.

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council warned that any further Israeli aggression would be met with a “decisive, firm, and timely response.”

 Has the Ceasefire Collapsed?

Israel’s Prime Minister’s office accused Iran of launching missiles after the truce took effect on Tuesday — a claim Tehran denies. Israel responded by striking a radar array near Tehran.

Prior to the ceasefire, both countries had exchanged heavy fire. The IDF reported multiple strikes on Iran from Monday night into Tuesday, while Iranian media said it had launched a final round of missiles at Israel before the agreement.

Overnight, Tehran experienced some of its most intense air defence clashes since the conflict began on 13 June, with residents reporting loud explosions.

The IDF claimed to have destroyed Iranian missile launchers poised to strike Israeli territory. Iranian officials also reported the assassination of another nuclear scientist before the ceasefire took hold.

 Why Did Israel Attack Iran?

The conflict escalated on 13 June when Israel bombed Iranian nuclear and military sites, accusing Iran of being close to developing a nuclear weapon. Israel said it had no choice but to act after diplomatic efforts to curb Iran’s nuclear ambitions stalled.

In response, Iran launched retaliatory strikes, including an attack on a US base in Qatar. The US later joined Israeli operations, deploying bunker-buster bombs against Iran’s Fordo nuclear facility.

 Casualties and Damage

Iran's health ministry reported 610 deaths and 4,746 injuries from Israeli strikes since the conflict began. Israel's health ministry confirmed four deaths on Tuesday, bringing Israel's total death toll to 28 since 13 June.

 Iran's Nuclear Capabilities

Iran maintains that its nuclear programme is for civilian purposes. However, the UN nuclear watchdog recently reported that Iran has enriched over 400kg of uranium to 60% purity — near weapons-grade levels.

US officials claim recent US-Israeli strikes have set back Iran's nuclear ambitions. Iranian state media downplayed the damage, stating the targeted sites had been evacuated prior to the attacks.
