Victor Osimhen is no longer on loan to Galatasaray. As of now, Victor is no longer a player for the Turkish Süper Lig side, as his loan deal expired on June 30th. While the Turkish side is reportedly pushing to sign the 26-year-old, who has a €75m release clause, the player is said to be on the radar of multiple clubs, and it is unlikely that he will stay permanently.
According to his close friend and journalist Buchi Laba, Victor is set to take his time in making a decision. This is because this is likely his last big move, and he would want to retire at the club he signs for. According to Italian journalist Di Marzio, although Victor’s release clause does not apply to Italian clubs, Napoli has set an asking price of €80m for any Serie A side interested in the Nigerian striker, as they are not keen on selling him to domestic rivals—despite the broken relationship between both parties.
Osimhen’s major priority is to leave Naples this season. However, La Repubblica reports that he is expected to be part of Napoli's pre-season camp if he doesn't make a move before his clause expires on July 15th. Liverpool has made inquiries into signing him, though their preference is Alexander Isak—whom Newcastle reportedly has no intention of selling unless a “crazy” offer comes in. Manchester United are also interested, but the fact that they are not playing Champions League football could be a problem—especially considering Victor Osimhen helped Galatasaray qualify directly for the UCL by winning the Turkish Süper Lig.
Though Galatasaray fans remain optimistic, Victor currently does not have a contract with the club. Several Turkish sources—though not all credible—claim that Victor has asked the club for time until August. They are also reporting that Galatasaray’s entire transfer policy depends on him. But how can a whole club’s transfer policy depend on a player who only mistakenly came on loan, after Napoli blocked several moves due to their excessive demands?
