In a bold move, Christian Tybring-Gjedde may have been among the foremost suggesting President Donald Trump be nominated. This recommendation was seconded by Robert O'Brien, the U.S. National Security Advisor at the time. Both opinions considered Trump's active diplomacy role in 2018 and 2020. Recently, Rep. Claudia Tenney, Sen. Bernie Moreno, and Rep. Buddy Carter voiced positive opinions about the motion, with many voices from the Middle East calling for the nomination of President Donald Trump.

Considering Donald Trump's increasing trade tariffs, deportations, and civil unrest, is he truly deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize? Compared with previous presidents, what has President Donald Trump committed to receiving such a prestigious award? Most of all, what is a Nobel Peace Prize? What does it signify? What are the criteria for peace-building and global diplomacy?

Geir Lundestad, a twenty-five-year-experienced director and secretary of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, has left no stone unturned in revealing all about this honourable award. Having access to many resources from the Norwegian Nobel Institute, his book “The World's Most Prestigious Prize” discusses the history of the prize, the criteria and the ‘laureates’ who have made away with this world-recognized honour. The book explains how It is the sole responsibility of the Norwegian Nobel Committee coupled with the Norwegian Parliament in Oslo to perform this exercise. The award goes for a gold medal, a diploma and an annual cash award of about $1 million USD! Yes, you heard that right! $1 million USD! The legacy was created by Alfred Nobel in 1895. Alfred Nobel was a Swedish inventor and a wealthy industrialist. This award is to be given only to any group or individual who shows outstanding contribution to world peace in the way of its promotion and reduction or disruption of wars.

Politically and ethically, Trump's candidature for the Nobel Peace Prize may be debated. He has been widely criticised for treating every diplomatic move just like every business deal. This has been mocked as untraditional and unconventional, whilst lacking the involvement of international institutions. Some critics tagged the results of his peacekeeping as short duration and unsustainable. Nevertheless, global history records Trump’s efforts to broker peace in the Middle East, where many others failed to make headway.

In the 2020 Abraham Accords, Trump drove the peace agreement between Israel and many Arab nations. Author Evelyn Cho, in her book ''Donald Trump Who’’ chronicles the Abraham Accords, achievements with notable statistical milestones. The author emphatically presents Trump’s influence on the political, international relations and economic terrain of the country.

Between 2018 and 2019, Trump lowered tensions in North Korea. He brought Kim Jong to order and brought a peace treaty to the region. Van Jackson discusses how Trump's administration averted a nuclear war that could have ensued from this event. Trump’s business-like aggression buttressed the negotiations and averted the crisis.

Donald Trump’s sanctions brought sanity to the Iran nuclear program (JCPOA) in 2018. This terminated Iran's nuclear arms development. A peace agreement with the Taliban in 2020 and the withdrawal of U.S. troops was a Trump initiative in Afghanistan.

The ceasefire agreement and war escalation, an ongoing event between Israel and Iran, are being peace-brokered by Donald Trump.

Author Azhar ul Haque Sario expertly details the attack and counterattack between Israel and Iran in June 2025. The disruption of the 12th June ceasefire agreement by Operation Rising Lion of Israel and the intense response to hypersonic missile strikes by Iran tagged as “Operation True Promise III” and the formidable intervention by the U.S. "Operation Midnight Hammer".

Will Tehran’s “axis of resistance” be dismantled or left in disarray? Will Hezbollah, Hamas, the Houthis, and the Iraqi militias, Tehran’s proxies for destruction, remain the most indomitable force and most feared in the Middle East? Will Trump’s present diplomatic mission and accurate military strikes liquidate Iran’s pride in its nuclear program? Author Nouridin Melo, in his book “The Collapse of Iran’s Regional Proxy Empire: What Next?” Intelligently discusses all these, as well as the probable power shifts in the political terrain of the Middle East, brokerage by the Trump administration.

To the question: Does Donald Trump deserve the Nobel Peace Award? The answer may lie in his unique character and ways. The global economic and sociopolitical scenario may deserve a high-profile, disruptive, and polarizing leader like Donald Trump at a time like this!
