Ahead of the CAF Confederation Cup campaign, former Asante Kotoko forward Obed Owusu has urged the Porcupine Warriors to retain Kwame Opoku and Albert Amoah as their striking tandem.
The Ghanaian powerhouses will make their comeback after a few years away when they play for Ghana in the Confederation Cup next season. Kotoko qualified for Africa after defeating Golden Kick FC in the FA Cup final.
Obed Owusu has pleaded with the Porcupine Warriors' leadership to keep Kwame Opoku and Albert Amoah on the team as they prepare for the tournament.
With a combined total of 28 goals and 3 assists in 50 games across all competitions, the striking tandem had a significant impact on the recently concluded football season.
Throughout the season, Opoku and Amoah led Kotoko's lines; thus, it will be wise for the team to retain them. Retaining these players will benefit the team greatly. In an interview with Kessben FM, he stated that the Confederation Cup might assist increase the worth of these players, which would greatly benefit Kotoko.
At the Accra Sports Stadium, Kotoko is currently getting up for their forthcoming President Cup matchup against sworn rivals Hearts of Oak.

The former club scout Mick Brown believes Mohammed Kudus will likely depart West Ham.
Mohammed Kudus is probably going to depart West Ham United this summer, according to hints made by former top scout Mick Brown.
The Ghanaian international signed a five-year contract with the Hammers with an extension option in August 2023, although he has been linked to Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
Even if they have recently reached deals for players like Jamie Gittens and João Pedro, the Blues are still committed to bolstering Enzo Maresca's team.
The former scout, who spent more than ten years at Manchester United at their most successful time, has a wealth of knowledge in recruiting elite players and has stated that it is now doubtful that Kudus will stay at the London Stadium.
"It appears that Kudus will be departing from West Ham," he informed Football Insider.
Although he has attracted a lot of interest, these teams would not shell out £80 million for him.
They will talk to West Ham about negotiating a reduced charge, but since it will still be a significant sum of money, I believe they will be amenable to it.
He did not have his best season, and I must admit that I am concerned about his consistency.
However, these teams will be aware of that and believe they know how to maximize his potential.
The most recent team to try to make a move is Chelsea, and Tottenham is also in contact with him.
It seems like Chelsea has limitless financial resources at their disposal and is willing to spend them.
"I have heard that they are not going to stop there, even though they have reached an agreement for Joao Pedro and are after Jamie Gittens as well.
"Kudus still wants to bring in attacking reinforcements, and they have supporters at Stamford Bridge."
"So, these clubs are eager to get him, and his talent is quite clear for anyone to see whether they can get the best out of him," he continued, "despite my personal reservations."
Mohammed Kudus finished his first season in the Premier League with 14 goals across all competitions and six assists. Nonetheless, the 24-year-old scored five goals in all competitions in the just-concluded season.
Mohammed Kudus, meanwhile, is presently vacationing in Ghana.
