Before their CAF Confederation Cup campaign, Asante Kotoko defender Samba O'Neil has endorsed Abdul Karim Zito as the team's leader.
Midway through the second part of the just-finished 2024–25 season, the former Black Satellites head coach was named interim coach following Prosper Narteh Ogum's dismissal.
At the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, Kotoko defeated Golden Kick FC 2-1 to win their tenth FA Cup under Karim Zito's leadership.
O'Neil has supported the club in keeping the seasoned Ghanaian coach ahead of their Africa campaign, even though the club has not yet decided on the former Dreams FC boss's future.
He told Asempa FM, "I believe Karim Zito is a wonderful coach and should lead us to Africa."
He also gave the Ghana Premier League high marks for quality.
"The Ghana Premier League has quality, and I am glad to be here."
Asante Kotoko, meanwhile, will play in the GHALCA Top Four tournament on August 1 before traveling to South Africa to play Kaizer Chiefs in the Toyota Cup.
