Maxwell Boakye, a forward for Ghana and AS Douanes, has drawn the attention of Egyptian Premier League team ENPPI SC, according to GHANAsoccernet.com.

In the just-finished Burkina Faso premier flight, the former Hearts of Oak and Karela United forward played brilliantly for AS Douanes, hitting 14 goals to win the goal king title in his debut season.

Boakye finished ahead of Ibrahim Sow and Ali Barro of CF Rahimo FC, Mohamed Borro of ASF Bobo-Dioulasso, and Pantoulou Diarra of Salitas FC, who each finished with nine goals at the end of the season.

The enterprising Ghanaian attacker ended the season with 18 goals overall, including four goals in the FA Cup competition.

A number of teams, notably Kotoko and ENPPI SC, have taken notice of Boakye's exceptional play and are eager to sign him this summer.

Even though Kotoko expressed interest in him, the 31-year-old forward plans to go away from home in search of better opportunities. Given their increased interest in acquiring the forward at the expense of other clubs, it seems likely that he will join the Egyptian team.

As ENPPI works to complete the transfer for the highly regarded attacker during the current transfer window, negotiations are presently in progress. For the Ghanaian forward, the top-tier Egyptian team has already made a two-deal offer.

Boakye is not new to Africa; he previously played for Club Ferroviairio de Maputo in Mozambique.
