I'm so happy that right now I get to spend more time on my improving my writing, binge-reading books and also most importantly (to me at least) writing my debut novel. I began writing the first draft for my debut novel around May but school just kind of became more intense and I it had to take a backseat for the time been but now- finals are over and I feel energized, motivated and bubbling with all these wonderful ideas I want to play around with.
As I mentioned my writing took a backseat for like a month but want thing I did continue is to feel, observe, notice my environment-collecting all these cache, storing them and now I'm ready to just take them all and do something crazy with them. It's how we got The Beatles, Stephen King, Beyonce, Lady Gaga. All the gifted artist that have challenged our cultural belief and shaped it, all learnt from someone even when they weren't creating-they were learning, collecting glitter and just playing around with them to see what can jump out of it.
I wasn't publishing pieces or working on my novel, I was experiencing, which is imperative for an artist. I would take a notepad with me wherever I go whether it's in my phone or a physical one. The truth is, you may not feel like creating everyday or just deciding to hole up in a quiet room to write-I'm afraid you may not always feel that way, which is totally cool and understandable but make sure when you aren't creating, you are learning the rules and how to break them. Breaking the rules is what makes you an artist.
So go out there my friends and lean from whoever ignites you but just remember it doesn't end there, the next step you take which is producing your own thing using the original as a fuel is what makes you a Paul McCartney, a Taylor Swift, a Beyonce. Thank you for reading this and stay safe.
