After leading Asante Kotoko to victory over Hearts of Oak in the 2025 President's Cup, winger Peter Amidu was named Man of the Match on Sunday night.

The Porcupine Warriors' dynamic winger was instrumental in the game from the beginning.

In a match at the Accra Sports Stadium, Hearts took the lead at the half thanks to a goal in the 24th minute from Hamza Issah.

In the second half, Asante Kotoko came on strong and changed the course of the match. After a strong cross from Peter Amidu bounced off a Hearts of Oak defender for an own goal in the 52nd minute, the Reds pulled even.




Kwame Opoku put his name on the scoreboard a minute later, giving Asante Kotoko a 2-1 victory.

After the game, Peter Amidu was selected Man of the Match for his outstanding attacking effort.

"I am thrilled with the win since this is what we wanted," the attacker stated in a post-match interview. We prepared for the game to win in mind.

Asante Kotoko has now won the 2025 President's Cup nine times after defeating Hearts of Oak 2-1.

The Black Queens of Ghana's captain for the 2024 CAF Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) is still Portia Boakye, an accomplished attacker.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) said in a statement on Sunday, July 7, that Cynthia Findiib Konlan and Jennifer Cudjoe will take Boakye's place in the leadership positions during the tournament in Morocco.


The Women's Africa Cup of Nations has given three outstanding players leadership responsibilities. The Ghana FA statement stated that veteran forward Portia Boakye, who has over ten years of international experience, vision, discipline, and an unyielding spirit, will continue to serve as captain.




It went on to say, "Jennifer Cudjoe, a talented midfielder with tactical awareness and a strong competitive spirit, and Cynthia Findiib Konlan, a dominant goalkeeper renowned for her composure and leadership, will be joining Boakye as deputy captains. The three of them combine strength, vision, and experience to create a potent leadership team.


On Saturday, July 5th, the 2025 WAFCON got underway in Morocco. On Monday, July 7, the Black Queens will play their first game of the season at the Honneurs Stadium in Oudja against the reigning champions, South Africa.
