BARCELONA WANTS TO SIGN LUIS DIAZ

According to Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona are still trying to sign Luis Díaz despite having two bids already rejected and Liverpool’s clear intent not to sell — not even to Bayern Munich. The club rates the Colombian winger highly and does not want to let him go, especially since replacing him would be difficult.

Even though contract talks between both parties have stalled, Liverpool still wants to keep him.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, Díaz is keen on a move to Barcelona. There are no reports yet of personal terms being agreed. Recall that Barcelona reportedly missed out on signing Nico Williams due to their inability to guarantee his registration for La Liga. Now, however, according to Sport, Luis Díaz reportedly does not care whether Barcelona can register him or not.

Barcelona are reportedly going to wait a few days due to the current atmosphere at Liverpool, who are mourning the loss of one of their best and most active players, Diogo Jota, in a ghastly car accident in Spain alongside his younger brother.

Marcus Rashford is also reportedly keen on a move to Barcelona, and negotiating with Manchester United would not be a problem, as he is not part of their plans for the season. His number 10 jersey has even been taken away from him, despite being an academy graduate. He is reportedly crazy about Barcelona and is willing to join even as a backup. He has even turned down bids from other clubs despite his desperation to leave United after being ousted. United are willing to sell for £40 million — unlike Liverpool, who rate Díaz at about £65–70 million.

However, despite this, Barcelona rate Díaz more highly than Rashford, and he has been their number one target for months — even ahead of Nico Williams, who rejected Barcelona last season. Though the prospect of getting Nico would have been a big boost to Barcelona, Liverpool were not willing to negotiate, which is why Barça focused on Nico, who had a cheap release clause. Now that Nico has signed a new deal with Athletic Club, Barcelona are back to seeking reinforcements for the left wing.
