Sammy Gyamfi Pays Tribute to Late Akwatia MP, Ernest Kumi

National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has shared an emotional message in response to the sudden passing of Ernest Yaw Kumi, Member of Parliament for Akwatia.

Posting on his official Facebook page, Sammy Gyamfi expressed deep sadness over the unexpected loss of the young legislator. In his heartfelt message, he acknowledged the reality of mortality, saying death comes to all. "We shall surely meet again," he wrote, referring to his departed colleague with affection. “Farewell, my dear brother Ernest Yaw Kumi. Rest peacefully in the arms of our Creator. Until we meet again,” his post read.

Ernest Kumi, who represented the Akwatia Constituency on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), was elected during the 2024 general elections.

His time in Parliament, however, was cut short just months into his service. Despite earlier legal challenges surrounding his election, the Supreme Court had recently ruled in his favor, clearing the way for him to fully assume his duties. Sadly, he passed away after a brief illness.

News of his death came as a shock to many in the political sphere and beyond. Just days before, Kumi had appeared on television, seemingly in good health and high spirits. His sudden passing has cast a cloud of grief over Parliament and the wider political community.

Tributes have flooded in from across the country, with many praising his dedication, humility, and the passion he brought to his role. Friends, colleagues, and constituents alike have described him as a rising star—committed to service and full of potential.

As Ghana mourns the loss of one of its promising young leaders, his memory lives on in the hearts of those he touched during his brief but impactful time in public office.
