Since winning the Europa League, Spurs (Tottenham Hotspur) have shown more ambition than most clubs, including Manchester United.
This was first reflected in their bold decision to sack manager Ange Postecoglou, despite him delivering their first trophy in 17 years. The board—specifically Daniel Levy—acknowledged that Ange was not the right person to lead Tottenham in their Champions League journey, especially considering they narrowly avoided relegation in the Premier League due to the poor performance of other teams.
Sure, they won the Europa League by beating Manchester United, but let’s face it—United were a fluke side. That being said, congratulations to Ange on delivering a second-season trophy.
Now, Spurs are making significant improvements. They've appointed Thomas Frank from Brentford to replace Ange—a bold move. They've also secured Ghanaian winger Mohammed Kudus from West Ham and recently activated Morgan Gibbs-White's release clause from Nottingham Forest, which is a strong statement signing.
Beyond that, driven by Thomas Frank, Spurs also made an offer for Bryan Mbeumo. However, the problem is that the player only wants a move to Manchester United. Unfortunately for Spurs, that transfer seems unlikely. Still, the club is showing far more focus than the likes of United, who have only made one statement signing—Matheus Cunha—and are struggling to meet Brentford's asking price for Mbeumo.
Manchester United are also having a hard time offloading players such as Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony, Malacia, and even Garnacho—whom they reportedly want to sell. Not only that, they are at risk of being left without a proper striker. Their primary target, Victor Osimhen, refused to take a pay cut to join them, as reported by Turkish journalist Yagiz and top Nigerian journalist Buchi Laba. Meanwhile, Viktor Gyökeres is prioritizing Arsenal, and Benjamin Šeško is currently overpriced.
Spurs, on the other hand, are not relenting. Their goal remains to perform strongly in both the Champions League and the Premier League this season. This ambition is clearly reflected in their aggressive movement in the current transfer window.
