Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum is a Ghanaian politician and a member of parliament for the Nkoranza South Constituency in the Bono East Region of Ghana.
Agyekum was first elected as the member of parliament for Nkoranza South after defeating the incumbent MP, Ampofo Twumasi of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, Member of Parliament for Nkoranza South Constituency, in the Bono East Region, has been honored as 'Nkosuohene' (Development Chief) of Akuma, a suburb of Nkoranza.
The honor is in recognition of his hard work, integrity, and development brought to the people of Akuma through his political life and particularly as the MP for Nkoranza South.
The Chiefs and people of Akuma Traditional area bestowed the title on him during his thank you tour at Akuma for his efforts, hard work and dedication towards Nkoranza.
The queen mother of Akuma, Nana Agyeiwaa-Kodie II, said: "The whole of Akuma is impressed with your hard work and selfless service to us."
She added that the move was to tap into his vast experience in politics, selfless service, development, and mobilization as he serves the people of Nkoranza South in Parliament.
Hon. Kwadwo Agyekum, a member of parliament and Minister of State in charge of special initiatives, has already been installed as "Sompahene" of the Nkoranza Traditional Council for his selfless leadership to the people of Nkoranzman.
The call for the installation was emphasized by the significant development, including the provision of a technical institute, mechanized water system, tarred roads, electricity extension, and especially human development and his humility in relating to both the chiefs and people of Akuma.
Sawiri Denteh Ababio, Gyakahene of Akuma, who spoke on behalf of Akuma chief, Nana Sem Boateng II, emphasized the importance of peace and unity for the people of Akuma to prevail for development, highlighting the great impact of Hon. Kwadwo Agyekum.
He also highlighted some challenges in the Akuma community, including the lack of toilet facilities.
Hon. Kwadwo Agyekum thanked the chiefs and people of Akuma for the honor and for their support and cooperation in voting for him in the 2024 elections. He told the people this victory wasn't for only him but all the people and they need to transform Nkoranza together.
He said: "I remain your MP as far as development will concern you, to continue contributing to the development of Akuma, and I assure to support in every capacity I can."
He was presented with his royal clothing, slippers, stool, and royal items as traditional demands.
