The Ejura Divisional Council, under the leadership of Ejurahene Barimah Osei Hwedie II, has provided substantial support to the Ghana Police Service by securing accommodation for senior officers posted to the newly established Ashanti North Regional Police Command.
In a significant show of commitment to enhancing security in the region, the chief and his council have rented an eight-bedroom apartment at a cost of nearly GH¢200,000 for a two-year period. The facility, located within Ejura, comprises four self-contained two-bedroom units, each equipped with a kitchen, living room, washrooms, and utility connections to ensure the comfort of the officers.
The official handing over of the apartment took place on Monday, July 21, 2025, with the Ejurahene personally presenting the keys to the police leadership. The facility will house four senior police officers who have been deployed to the area following the completion of an ultra-modern divisional police headquarters, also constructed through the initiative of the Ejurahene.
Speaking at the event, Barimah Osei Hwedie II underscored the importance of community collaboration in supporting national security efforts. He emphasized that ensuring safety in communities is a shared responsibility and called on all residents to contribute to such causes. He also revealed that the rent was funded through the collective efforts of the Ejura Divisional Council and contributions from local farmers, highlighting a strong spirit of unity and civic responsibility within the area.
He further pledged the council’s continued commitment to supporting both security and development projects in Ejura and its surrounding communities.
Receiving the keys on behalf of the Police Service, the Ashanti North Regional Police Commander, DCOP Jude Cobina, expressed profound gratitude to the Ejurahene and the people of Ejura for their generous support. He described the gesture as timely and impactful, especially given the growing demands of the new command. DCOP Cobina also urged the officers who will occupy the residence to take good care of the facility and reaffirmed the police’s dedication to safeguarding lives and property across the region.
