ECG LISTS 90 COMMUNITIES TO EXPERIENCE POWER OUTAGES TODAY—FULL DETAILS

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced that a total of 90 communities in the Greater Accra and Ashanti Regions will experience temporary power outages today, Tuesday, 12th August 2025. The planned interruptions form part of ECG’s ongoing maintenance programme aimed at improving the efficiency, reliability, and stability of electricity supply across the country.


According to ECG, the maintenance works are necessary to upgrade certain sections of the power distribution network, replace worn-out equipment, and address technical challenges that could lead to unexpected blackouts in the future. The company assured the public that while the exercise will cause some temporary inconvenience, it will ultimately enhance service delivery and minimize unplanned outages.


Greater Accra Region

In the Greater Accra Region, power will be interrupted from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in several communities, including Mandela, SCC, Sunny Coast, Korkordjor, Kinshasha, Shiabu, Gbegbeyise Beach Road, Gbawe, McCarthy Hill, Weija Junction, Tetegu, Osu, Twumasewaa Hospital, Ability, and other surrounding areas.

Other parts of the region, such as Kotwi, Nkoranza, Kokoben, Bekwame, Sabin Akrofom, Nketiah, Achiaase, Amoaman, Asuofia, Asaman, Buoho (part), Sasa, Akrowa, Agric Nzema, Kromoase, Akyeremade, Yabi, Kwanwoma, Aburaso, Abuakwa, Lawson Herbal, Abakomade, Mankranso, Kunsu, and Gyaekontabuo, will be without power between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.


Ashanti Region

In the Ashanti Region, outages will also run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Affected areas include Bekwai Township, Esumeja, Kokofu, Fukai, Anwiamkanta, Dominase Behenase, Ntinanko, Poano, Daa, Apaaso, Asefni, Adjamesu, Anwiam, Sisikro, Asikuma, Amoafo, Kwamang, and nearby communities.


ECG has appealed to residents to take the necessary precautions, including charging devices ahead of time, storing water, and making alternative arrangements for activities that require electricity during the blackout period. The company also expressed gratitude for the public’s cooperation and patience, reiterating its commitment to providing a more stable and dependable electricity supply in the coming months.


This maintenance exercise follows similar scheduled works in recent weeks, highlighting ECG’s proactive approach in tackling infrastructural challenges before they escalate.
