Victor Osimhen is unlikely to be available for Galatasaray’s first match against Frankfurt due to an ankle injury he sustained while on international duty with Nigeria. He immediately returned to Turkey after Gala sent him a private jet for an MRI, which confirmed that he had an ankle strain.
According to Turkish journalists such as Yakup Cinar, Ali Naci Küçük, and Haluk Yürekli, his injury was not very serious and he would simply be rested for the Eyüpspor match. However, as the Frankfurt match draws closer, Osimhen is in danger of missing out after not being spotted in training.
According to Yürekli, Victor’s condition will become clear on Wednesday ahead of their final tactical session before traveling to Germany for the away game. He noted that while Victor is at risk of missing the match, there is still a chance he could play. Other journalists have reported, however, that Victor is eager to feature in Gala’s first UCL game, even if it means playing with an injection.
Gala fans, on the other hand, are against this idea, pointing out that they need Osimhen fit for the rest of the season, not just one game. They recall the case of Mauro Icardi, who played a UCL group-stage match against Bayern Munich with an injection, which may or may not have contributed to his ACL tear a few months later.
Meanwhile, with Victor’s injury situation, some Nigerian journalists have accused him of faking his injury and leaving the Super Eagles midway. A once-renowned journalist, now mocked as a clown, even claimed that Victor was asked to travel to support the team in South Africa but refused. But honestly, how would his physical presence in South Africa have won the game? Or is there something we are not being told? After all, the Super Eagles’ doctor initially downplayed the issue, referring to it as a shin bruise — and there is clearly a difference between an ankle and a shin
injury.
