The Member of Parliament for Nkoranza North, Joseph Kwasi Mensah in collaboration with Bono East Regional Minister, Francis Owusu Antwi initiated the commencement of construction for 70 kilometers of Roads in the Nkoranza North in the Bono East Region on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
These significant roads, vital within the constituency, have long suffered from deterioration and however with the sod-cutting ceremony, it is slated for reconstruction.
However, spanning a length of 70 kilometers, the roads connect approximately 21 communities in the district, including Bodom, Konkrompe, Senya, Bonte, Bomini, Busunya, Tankor, Fiema, Boabeng, Akrudwa No. 2, Akrudwa No. 1, Busunya, Tanoboase, Baafi, Kranka, Boana, Yefri, Manso, Kranka, Sikaa, and Pinihin Road.
Moreover, it serves as an alternative route for travelers to Nkoranza, Techiman, kintampo and Atebubu respectively.
The cutting of the sod is entrusted to Nag Fair Mount Construction Engineering limited, renowned for its excellence in road construction and expected to be completed within 18 months.
The event which was held at Bodom, saw the presence of Bodom community chief and chiefs from other communities, Bono East Regional Minister, Francis Owusu Antwi, a representative from the roads department, the contractor, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, Effah Patrick, as well as the National Democratic Congress' (NDC) party constituency executives and other party supporters and other community members.
Meanwhile, during the ceremony, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Nkoranza North, Joseph Kwasi Mensah affirmed his commitment to the constituency’s development and expressed gratitude to His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama for his support and acknowledgement to the Nkoranza North constituency.
The MP addressed that the roads were a major
concern to him as well as his constituents and was glad that the government had approved for it to be
constructed under the big push initiative.
According to him, the roads would open
the communities for economic expansion and development in Nkoranza North.
"When these roads are completed, motorists
could access the road to transport their farm inputs and goods", Joseph Mensah emphasized.
In his speech, Francis Owusu Antwi, urged the road contractors to prove critics wrong by delivering quality, good and timely construction across the communities.
He said the government was committed to investing in infrastructure and insisted that
contractors must meet expectations by ensuring value for money and
durable roads.
"This project is about
connecting people, facilitating business, and ensuring that our
people travel safely and
comfortably," he said.
"No shoddy work would be
tolerated, as we are strengthening supervision and monitoring mechanisms on your works", the minister concluded.
