Galatasaray won their sixth Süper Lig match of the season despite suffering a humiliating defeat in their last game against Frankfurt. For this match, Okan decided to rest Davinson Sánchez, who seemed to struggle positionally when playing as a left center-back in the Frankfurt game, where he deflected the ball into his own net and also blocked the goalkeeper’s vision for another goal.

Though having difficulties in the UCL, Galatasaray remain unbeaten in the league with six wins from six games. They currently have 18 points and are six points clear of Fenerbahçe. In the Konyaspor match, Yunus Akgün opened the scoring in the 23rd minute and then set up Icardi just before half-time with a stylish pass. Lucas Torreira made it three with a thrilling shot from outside the box into the top corner, but he chose not to celebrate, noting in the post-match interview that he was still saddened by the humiliation against Frankfurt.

Konyaspor pulled one back in the 79th minute but were unable to add more goals. The match ended 3-1 in favor of Galatasaray, with the Yellow-Reds conceding only their second goal in the league this season.

However, despite the win, some Galatasaray fans are still clamoring for their coach to be sacked, noting that he has only achieved local success and lacks European pedigree. The fans also pointed out that about €150 million was spent on quality transfers not just for the league, but for the UCL with the Galatasaray management promising the fans success with the tag Hedefayrupa. Galatasaray however are gunning for their fourth consecutive Turkish super lig title in a row as they are now six points above their rivals in the league. Also coach Okan has noted that Galatasaray would do everything to achieve not just local success but success abroad(Europe) considering the amount of cash spent on transfers.
