FENERBAHÇE STUMBLE AGAIN: 0–0 DRAW WITH SAMSUNSPOR DROPS THEM TO FOURTH PLACE IN TURKISH LIG

Fenerbahçe have now failed to win against Samsunspor and missed the chance to capitalize after 10-man Galatasaray dropped two points to Beşiktaş over the weekend. Fenerbahçe couldn’t manage up to six accurate shots during the match.

Not only that, Samsunspor’s goal was disallowed and a penalty was not awarded to them in the first half. In short, if not for the disallowed goal, the missed penalty call, and Fenerbahçe’s third-choice goalkeeper Tarık Çetin — who made crucial saves — Fenerbahçe would have lost all three points.First choice goalkeeper Ederson was injured and had to withdraw from the match

This is Dominic Tedesco’s third draw since taking over Fenerbahçe, and the club’s fourth draw of the season. It comes at a crucial time for the club, who recently voted out their former president Ali Koç for failing to win the championship for about 11 years.

However, some fans still blame Ali Koç for their recent struggles, claiming that he built a poor squad worth around €100 million. What makes it even more ironic is that Galatasaray, their eternal rivals, bought fewer players but are still performing better than Fenerbahçe, who practically rebuilt their entire starting XI — including signing Galatasaray’s former captain Kerem Aktürkoğlu from Benfica.

Meanwhile, the striker Ali Koç loaned from Al Nassr, Jhon Durán, has refused to play, stating that he “feels pain.” His MRI results reportedly came out clean. Despite Galatasaray not having a deep squad, the difference is that their starting XI is far superior to Fenerbahçe’s entire team. Fenerbahçe are now 4th placed in the Turkish super league heading into the international break with 16 points, 6 points below first placed Galatasray. Fener fans are again getting impatient as it seems there title hopes might be dashed again this season and they will have to carry on with a 12 year Turkish super lig title drought.
